On April 20, 2024, the College hosted a special event dedicated to inspiring the next generation of female leaders in STEM at Greiner Advanced Manufacturing Center. The STEM Career Exploration Badge Event, organized for the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania, will welcome 70 participants, from Juniors to Ambassadors.

The one-day event offers a unique platform for these future women of STEM to meet successful women in various fields at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. Through rotating sessions, the participants will be introduced to practical skills and educational pathways in high-demand areas such as welding, machine engineering, and water environmental technology.

It’s not just about imparting hard skills; they also focus on essential soft skills like communication, teamwork, and curiosity. Highlighting the day will be the session led by the female Director of Career Services at the College, who will share valuable insights into the types of careers available within STEM fields. Laurie Grove will talk about data from recent graduates and current employment trends, giving the scouts a clear view of potential career paths.

At the end of the event, all participants will receive their STEM Career Exploration badges, marking not only their achievements of the day but also the beginning of their journey into the world of STEM!

Thanks to the female faculty and staff who volunteered their time to inspire these students from 6th through 9th grades during such a fun and impactful day!
