Denver, PA - Some 300 high school students from Lancaster and Lebanon Counties got a taste of “gold collar careers” in the local construction industry, thanks to a partnership between Landmark Homes and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

The organizations collaborated on Oct. 11 to host the Fourth-Annual Construction Trades Day at the Hawk Valley Estates in Denver, PA.

The event featured hands-on demonstrations from local industry as students and participants were guided through the entire process of new home construction from concept/design to completed, move-in ready home. College students, faculty, and industry leaders a host of fields were on hand to assist demonstrations and answer questions.

Industries featured were Architecture, Engineering CAD, Civil Engineering, Electrical Technology, Water & Environmental Technology, Carpentry, Masonry, Plumbing, Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning, Cabinet Making, Real Estate and Heavy Equipment Operation.

The construction industry comprises some of the fastest-growing, in-demand jobs today. Yet there are not enough skilled professionals to replace the industry’s aging workforce. Conceived in 2014 by Landmark Homes President Cliff Weaver, Construction Trades Day aims to educate local students, parents, counselors, and educators on the types of career opportunities available close to home.
