“They want to be able to move into management, or they want to have the skill set to be entrepreneurial or run their own business. It's those two pathways that we want to support with this (program),” said Mary Jensen, Eastern Mennonite University at Lancaster's associate provost.

“This program is going to help our students go up the career ladder into management with a degree that will be practical,” Parker said.

Currently about five percent of Thaddeus Stevens students go on to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

The leadership degree will help graduates who want to get into management positions or run their own business, Parker said.

The program is open to anyone who finishes an associate’s degree at Thaddeus Stevens.

It will begin fall 2018, according to Jensen, and can be finished in as little as 16 months.

There are 39 core required credits for the degree, Jensen said. At $395 per credit hour, a student who starts the program with an associate's degree could expect a cost of around $15,000. Classes are designed for students who are working full-time and will be held during evenings and weekends.

Thaddeus Stevens has articulation agreements with Millersville University, Elizabethtown College, Shippensburg University, Penn College and Penn State.

“We are excited to have our students be able to go down the road a mile and able to obtain their bachelor's degree,” Parker said.
