Attendance Policy

Attendance is important for success at Stevens; therefore, regular and prompt attendance for classes and scheduled conferences is expected for all students. Instructors distribute attendance requirements in their course syllabus at the beginning of the semester. Students are responsible for reading and understanding these requirements for each course, whether they are general education or technical courses.

The faculty will recognize only the following as legitimate excuses for absence:

  1. Death in the immediate family
  2. Hospitalization
  3. Illness verified by a doctor's excuse indicating the nature of the illness and type of medication prescribed
  4. College activities as approved by the Vice President for Academic Affairs or Vice President for Student Services
