2023 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees
On Friday, Oct. 13, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology held its Annual Athletic Hall of Fame Awards. It was an amazing time recognizing those who have been leaders, mentors, and supporters of the College’s athletics program.
The College inducted:
Jenelle Clayborne, its first female student-athlete inducted, competed in Track & Field in 2001 and 2002 at the College. She was a Business Administration major and finished in second place at the National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) national meet in the hammer with a throw of 31.11 meters. She became the first female athlete from Thaddeus Stevens College to earn All-American status from the NJCAA and still holds the College’s record for hammer throw. She was also named MVP and the most improved player for the College on the Track & Field team. Following her time at the College, she went on to Temple University and has worked for American Airlines for the last 18 years.
Joe Ganse was an Assistant Football Coach for the College’s Bulldogs Football Team for 17 seasons. He spent most of his time coaching as a defensive line coach with players regularly named to All-Conferences. He was an outstanding defensive lineman in high school and College, earning Hall of Fame honors at McCaskey and Southern Mississippi. He was recognized as an All-League and All-State runner-up for his football accomplishments and was honorable mention All-Central Pennsylvania in baseball in high school. He was signed as a free agent by the New Orleans Saints. He was known as a great recruiter for the College as well.
Phil York came to Thaddeus Stevens College in 1999 as an athletic trainer. In 2000 he started helping with coaching for the Bulldog football team as a wide receiver’s coach. He also served as an Offensive Analyst and Quality Control Assistant Coach. During his tenure as a coach, the Bulldogs won several Seaboard Conference Championships and had several All-Conference players. After coaching, Phil remained with the team as the equipment manager, a purchasing agent, and a statistician. He was honored posthumously as he passed away in 2022.
