Landmark Homes, in partnership with Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, hosted the 5th annual Construction Trades Day on Wednesday, October 17th, 2018.

Construction Trades Day is an interactive event designed to educate local middle and high school students on the types of career opportunities available in the construction industry, highlighting the increasing demand for these high skills, high wage positions.

Construction Trades Day began in 2014 when Landmark Homes President, Cliff Weaver, proposed a unique way to educate local youths about the shortage of skilled labor and the opportunities for ‘gold-collar’ careers in the construction industry right here in their hometown. With that concept in mind, Landmark Homes and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology came together to create the first-of-its-kind Construction Trades Day event. Since its inception, Construction Trades Day has been a highly regarded event and recently gained statewide recognition from the Pennsylvania Builders Association (PBA) during the 2017 PBA Builder Awards with the honor of ‘Best Community Service Project.’

During the event, students will be guided through the process of new home construction via presentations and live demonstrations from local trade professionals. Each stop along the tour features a significant stage in the process of new home construction. Career fields that will be represented include drafting and design, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, product installation, masonry, storm water management, land development, and heavy equipment operations.

The 5th annual Construction Trades Day will take place rain or shine at Landmark Homes’ Hawk Valley Estates community in Denver, PA. Over 300 students are expected to be in attendance.
