Manufacturers’ Association & TSCT Announce Workforce Development Training Partnership

    04.17.23 | TSCT News

The Manufacturers’ Association and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology are pleased to announce a new workforce and training partnership to provide high quality training and education to the manufacturing industry.   As regional manufacturing continues to grow and evolve, there is an increasing need for skilled workers who possess the knowledge and expertise to keep up with these changes.  The region is estimated to have an advanced manufacturing skills gap of nearly 13,000 workers by 2029, and this partnership will help address this need by providing the necessary training and education so manufacturers can grow their companies.

The partnership will focus on reskilling and upskilling the incumbent workforce with training programs that are tailored to the specific needs of the manufacturing industry covering a wide range of topics, from basic manufacturing processes to advanced technologies and automation.  This expanded effort builds on the 20 plus years of collaboration between the Association and the College that has included articulation agreements between the organizations, serving on employer advisory councils, promoting manufacturing careers and coordinating on past training grants for the manufacturing industry.

The Manufacturers Association of Central Pennsylvania brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this partnership. As a leading voice for the manufacturing industry in the region, the association is uniquely positioned to provide insight and guidance on the specific needs of manufacturers in Central Pennsylvania.  “We are excited to expand our partnership with Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology to leverage both of our organizations assets to ensure that our manufacturing workforce is equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the demand of today’s high tech manufacturing environment,” said Tom Palisin, Executive Director of the Manufacturers’ Association.

Pedro Rivera, President of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, added, “Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology has a long history of providing a high-quality, hands-on education to students preparing for a career in technology and the trades. We are proud to partner with the Manufacturers’ Association to extend this tradition and help create even more opportunities for those currently employed in the manufacturing industry.”

The Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and Manufacturers’ Association workforce training partnership is currently enrolling for courses starting in April at the College and include electrical safety (no cost), CNC Milling Machine Operator training, and front-line supervisor training for manufacturers.  Interested employers can enroll their existing workforce in courses via the Association’s website (mascpa.org/training) and all courses will be held at the College’s Greiner Center Campus.  For more information, please contact Tom Palisin at the Association or Tracey Dukert at Thaddeus Steven’s College of Technology.
