Students Earn Gold, Silver, and Bronze In National Skills USA Championships
Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology students earned national recognition in the annual Skills USA National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC) held June 20 - 24, 2022 in Atlanta, GA. The Conference is a showcase of career and technical education, and included the two-day Skills USA National Championships.
Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology students who earned national recognition in the competition are:
Elizabeth Miles (Class of 2022 - Graphics & Communications), of Columbia, PA, earned a Gold medal in the Graphics/Communications competition.
Steven Gehringer (2nd Year - Metals Fabrication & Welding Technology), of Fleetwood, PA, earned a Silver medal in the Sheet Metal competition.
Alex Cahoone (2nd Year - Metals Fabrication & Welding Technology), of West Chester, PA; Matthew Mykut (2nd Year - Metals Fabrication & Welding Technology), of Auburn, PA; and Tanner Sidella (2nd Year - Metals Fabrication & Welding Technology), of Pottsville, PA, were on the Thaddeus Stevens College team that took a Bronze medal in the Welding Fabrication competition.
More than 6,500 outstanding career and technical education students –– all state contest winners –– competed hands-on in 108 different trade, technical and leadership fields. Students work against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in occupations such as electronics, computer-aided drafting, precision machining, medical assisting and culinary arts. Contests are run with the help of industry, trade associations and labor organizations, and test competencies set by industry.
