TSCT Football Gives Back at State Rep. Sturla 6th Annual Giveaway

    Lancaster, PA – Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology's Football team participated and assisted in State Rep. Mike Sturla, D-Lancaster, sixth annual Back to School Giveaway Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Lancaster Barnstormers Stadium, 650 N. Prince St., Lancaster.

    Event festivities will run from noon to 5 p.m. followed by a Barnstormers game. Children will have the opportunity to receive a free haircut, enjoy music, food, games and community activities. Information will be available on state programs and services available for children. Sturla’s staff will also be on site to field questions about state-related issues.

    The backpack and supplies giveaway will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Participants are encouraged to register for the education celebration at http://bit.ly/SturlaGiveaway, which has expanded to include uniforms, shoes and a book.

    Thaddeus Stevens Football team connected with the community through dance, answering questions about the College, encouraging young students to work hard and stay in school and assisting community members where they can. Attendees are encouraged to stay for the 6:30 p.m. Lancaster Barnstormers game and will be provided with a ticket to the game and a meal. 

    Lancaster City students must be in attendance to receive a backpack, uniform, and shoes and accompanied by an adult.

    Those interested in volunteering or making a donation of backpacks, uniforms, books, shoes or school supplies to the event should contact Mena Rodriguez in Sturla’s Lancaster office at 717-295-3157 as soon as possible. Pencils, erasers, glue sticks, boxes of crayons, rulers, child-safe scissors, spiral-bound notebooks, two pocket folders and three-ring binders collected will be donated directly to the School District of Lancaster.
