Pedro A. Rivera II, Ed.D., President of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, was honored with the Leadership in Education & Community Support Award from the NAACP Lancaster Branch at its Annual Gala on October 3. The award recognizes Rivera’s lifelong dedication to education and his efforts to create equitable opportunities for underserved communities.
Rivera’s distinguished career spans roles as a teacher, principal, superintendent of the School District of Lancaster, and Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Since becoming President of Thaddeus Stevens College in 2020, Rivera has focused on continuing to expand educational access, particularly for historically underrepresented groups, through the college’s associate degree programs, workforce development, and professional courses.
Under his leadership, Thaddeus Stevens College has continued to strengthen partnerships with local businesses and industries to develop career pathways that lead to family-sustaining wages, reinforcing the legacy of Thaddeus Stevens in creating equity and opportunity throughout the community. Rivera’s approach aligns with the college’s mission to provide students with the skills and education needed for high-demand, well-paying jobs.
