The college’s wonderful community partners, including the PA Dept of Agriculture, play a crucial role in helping Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology fulfill its mission of creating a robust economic pipeline into the workforce. Thanks to a generous $7,500 Pennsylvania Farm Bill Agriculture and Youth Grant, our Diesel Technology students now have access to a new-to-them tractor, enhancing their learning experience significantly.
This grant has provided our students with invaluable resources. The tractor, now a vital part of their hands-on learning space, enables students to develop essential skills in equipment repair and service. More importantly, it allows them to practice diagnosing malfunctions, diesel engine maintenance, electrical and hydraulic functions, safety, and diagnosing the charging and cranking system – all critical aspects of their training that prepares them for real-world challenges in the workforce. This direct experience is instrumental in producing highly skilled graduates ready to meet the demands of Pennsylvania’s agricultural and technical sectors.
Recently, students from Solanco High School and Eastern Lebanon County High School visited our Transportation Center and had the opportunity to see the tractor in action. These visits not only showcased the advanced training our students receive but also inspired the next generation of technicians and engineers.
We are excited to continue working with our community partners to provide top-notch education and training, helping our students become the skilled professionals that Pennsylvania needs. Thank you once again to everyone involved in making this possible!
