Alcohol Policy

The possession, use, or sale of alcoholic beverages by students, regardless of age, is prohibited on the Stevens’ campuses. Students found guilty of violating this policy are subject to disciplinary action as indicated below:

First Offense:

  • Students under 21 will be cited accordingly by the Pennsylvania State Police.
  • The student will be suspended from the residence halls for three days.
  • The student will be placed on probation for thirty days.
  • The student will be required to complete an in-house alcohol counseling program and fulfill a mandatory counseling period designated by our professional counselor.
  • If permitted to attend classes during the suspension period, the student must depart campus each day no later than 6:00 p.m. and cannot be on the porches or in the residence halls. If the student fails to adhere to these sanctions, he/she will face additional sanctions.
  • If during the investigation, it is determined that a student purchased alcohol specifically for the purpose of sale or distribution, the student will be suspended from the College for a period of three days.

Second Offense:

  • Students under 21 will be cited accordingly by the Pennsylvania State Police.
  • The student will be suspended from the residence halls for the remainder of the semester. (An individual’s return to the residence halls at the outset of another semester will be subject to review and approval by the Director of Student Services and the Director of Residence Life.)
  • During the suspension period, the student is not permitted in or around any residence hall and will be placed on probation for the remainder of the semester.
  • In order to remain enrolled at the College, the student will also be required to complete an off-campus alcohol counseling program and present proof of the same to the Director of Student Services and the College’s counselor.
  • If permitted to attend classes, the student must depart campus each day of classes by 6:00 p.m. If the student fails to adhere to these sanctions, he/she will face additional sanctions.
  • If during the investigation, it is determined that a student purchased alcohol specifically for the purpose of sale or distribution, the student will be recommended for expulsion to the President of the College.
