Skill Up Fast Graduation - Metalcasting

    Lancaster, PA – On Friday, May 19, 2017, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology’s Skill Up Fast’s Metal casting Program held their graduation. It was a small and intimate ceremony but laid a foundation for these students.

    “The Metal Casting program at Stevens is changing people’s lives. Our last two classes before this current class had seven refugees, five from Cuba, and one each from Syria and the Congo, all seven are currently working and are doing very well”, says Anthony Luizzo, Metal Casting instructor.

    The current graduating class consists of three unique individuals who all have their own reasons in participating in the class.

    Crystal Krout thought it was a cool experience. Her dream is to starting her own business in the Metal Fabrication that allows her to test her creativity and sell industrial design furniture.

    “Definitely a great training program for anyone that wants to get into metalcasting”, says Isaac Rivera “The instructor is great and I’ve learned a lot of things. This is the perfect place to graduate. Isaac took the opportunity to learn about metal casting to his expand his knowledge and get a job at a foundry.

    Deon Westbrook took advantage of the three-week program to expand his career and skills. “The whole experience went by very fast, but it will leave a very lasting impression in my life”

    “Metalcasting is one of two SkillUP Fast! programs here at Stevens College, that put people back to work quickly and offer jobs in high-demand fields, with a good starting wage.” Says Pam McCarty, TAACCCT Grant Coordinator
