Job Description

Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology is seeking to add a new team member to the Office of Planning, Accountability and Assessment, and Institutional Research (PAAIR) to support the College’s work in executing a rigorous continuous improvement plan based on ongoing research and evaluation of campus practices and procedures, as well as the use of multiple internal and external assessments to monitor student learning outcomes. The Research Analyst serves a critical role in producing basic and complex analysis of internal and external datasets to enable the College to anticipate and/or be timely and focused in responding to trends. This work requires strong skills in quantitative analysis and data visualization, as well as attention to detail, knowledge of good data management practices, and the ability to communicate across various audiences. The Research Analyst will also be integral to creating institutional dashboards that report the College’s progress in meeting performance metrics. Additionally, the Research Analyst will assist institutional stakeholders with designing surveys and supporting other data collection efforts.  

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong statistical knowledge and knowledge of STATA or other statistical software
  • Proficiency in using data analytics software (Excel, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Strong computational and analytic skills in general
  • 2-years of experience working with large data sets
  • Strong computer skills and an interest/ability to stay current with technology
  • Ability to effectively communicate data and findings to a range of institutional stakeholders and external constituents, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Skilled in working under tight timelines and comfortable balancing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to identify alternative solutions
  • Ability to complete projects with minimal supervision
  • A strong work ethic characterized by flexibility, reliability, and thoroughness
  • A strong customer service orientation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products—i.e., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (e.g., demonstrates professionalism and emotional maturity)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business, education, mathematics/statistics, or other relevant areas
  • Previous work experience in higher education
  • Prior experience with accreditation in higher education or similar kinds of organizational performance monitoring
  • 2-years of experience with quantitative or mixed methods research design
  • 2-years of experience designing, administering, and analyzing assessment instruments (e.g., surveys, rubrics)
  • Prior work experience demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy as a focal point of performance success.
