Job Description:

Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology seeks an energetic and outgoing part time tour guide.  The individual must be a responsible, independent worker who can relate to a diverse student population of middle school, high school and non-traditional students as well as share information related to the different technical majors. The position will also support other functions of the enrollment services office when tours are not being given. The position will be approximately 25 hours a week during the daytime shift. Occasionally, night and weekend hours are required.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Give campus tours to prospective students and their families
  • Office-work in Admissions, including data entry, emailing with prospective students, writing postcards, phoning, etc.
  • Act as a representative of Thaddeus Stevens College to visitors. Welcome, assist, and escort individual and group visitors to the campus.
  • Provide information, explanations, directions and guide services for the campus.
  • Expected to greet and mingle with prospective students and their families.
  • Coordinate with the Tour Services Coordinator to ensure all activities requests are accurate and complete.
  • Performs related duties as required.

  • Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to memorize and recite facts clearly and accurately.
  • Bilingual speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.

Work Environment: These positions work within the Thaddeus Stevens College campuses and conduct guided tours of the campuses and surrounding buildings. Travel between buildings maintaining control of large groups of people, sometimes in inclement weather is required. The incumbents must be able to stand and/or walk up to three hours at a time on hard floor surfaces, and walk up and down stairs (sometimes up to four flights of stairs at a time). These positions maintain order and management of small and large groups and must be able to speak clearly and effectively for long periods. The incumbent will also work in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, and copier.
